Close Protection - What is it

What is Close Protection

Close Protection (aka CP) is the more formal name or phrase given to providing people or organisations with bodyguard services. Professional services that safeguard clients and their families where there is a real or perceived risk.

That risk may exist for a number of reasons and the risk may be temporary or permanent and as such the delivery of close protection services maybe short term or as in the case of heads of state be required on a full time basis. Its why all living American presidents maintain a secret service close protection detail for the rest of their days after leaving the oval office. A risk still exists.

The need for vip close protection is therefore risk based. And at QRisk that’s exactly how we approach every requirement for our Executive and VIP close protection services. Examine and understand the risk and provide the client with pragmatic solutions.

The role can involve 24 hour support, literally being on the clients shoulder and co located at their home or accommodation or it can be event specific such as a function, where protesters are expected is a common example. Again it is risked based and the need and type of close protection is based on that risk. Close protection can be provided by an individual or by a close protection team, where the number on the team depends on the clients requirements and the risk based assessment.

A professional relationship needs to exist between the client and the close protection operative. If their is no professional relationship there is no trust. If there is no trust then the client won’t have the required level of confidence to go about their business knowing the the close protection operative or team is squared away and doing their job.

Close protection is simply about providing the right level of protection to the client to mitigate all risks. The known, and the unknown. To provide a circle of trust and a circle of safety around the client and their family.

Those needing executive protection or VIP protection should take time to consider the credentials of those they are thinking of engaging. If there is genuine risk that needs mitigating then don't compromise on the quality of the people you engage. Seek out industry professionals and those with subject matter expertise in providing the right level of executive, vip close protection services. You don't want an average litigator, accountant, or heart surgeon and equally you don't want average when it comes to looking after the safety of yourself and your family in the face of a real and present risk.
